摘要

Two methods of preparing flame retardant coatings are the physical blending of flame retardants and the chemical bonding of flame retardants onto the polymer backbone. The latter approach has a number of advantages including the possibility of evolving incombustible gases and forming a protective foam, and a longer effective lifetime, as the flame retardant moieties are not able to exude from the coating on aging.
