the chemical basis of one of the variations in peas reported by Gregor Mendel over 130 years ago has finally been resolved. And his counter-intuitive findings that green pea seeds are genetically recessive to yellow seeds have been confirmed at last Mendel studied a total of seven different characteristics in peas. One which he described in a publication of 1865, was a difference in seed colour; some being yellow and some green.
