Brand new Sims UK e-scrap facility in operation

A euro 12 million (US$ 17 million) Sims Recycling Solutions e-scrap recycling plant has been officially opened in Newport by Wales' First Minister Rhodri Morgan. The new processing plant means Sims Metal Management's Newport site has now expanded to more than 36 acres. Employing 200 staff, the new facility will recover and recycle waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) at a rate of 100 000 tonnes per year. It will cover reuse and refurbishment, TV dismantling and processing, general WEEE recycling and plastics separation.
