For those operating in a specialist area of the recovered paper supply chain, UK-based Meltog has devised compact confidential shredders capable of achieving throughputs of up to 4 tonnes per hour. Delivering a particle size of 16 mm, the PS range of machines is designed 'to process material quickly and efficiently in one pass'. Three products in the range - the PS15, PS37 and PS74 - offer quoted hourly throughputs from 1.7 to 4 tonnes per hour. The shredders' relatively slow shaft speeds reduce dust and noise generation while maintaining high torque. Accurate timing of opposing cutting knives limits shred length and reduces 'stringing', it is claimed. The machines also self-clean by the action of the opposed cutters and by employing 'ploughs' to scrape material off the shafts.
