摘要

More staff and more technology are key to improved security. Operators have an obligation to provide a safe environment for passengers and staff when travelling. While onboard incidents of crime such as theft, assault and antisocial behaviour are relatively low, passengers still express concern for their safety when travelling alone or late at night. The UK Spring 2010 National Passenger Survey shows that although the majority of passengers are generally satisfied with their personal security on trains (75%), of those that are not satisfied, the anti-social behaviour of others was their main worry.
