Passenger safety goes hand in hand with design considerations for flooring manufacturer Altro. The interior of a carriage rarely communicates with its customers - the fare paying public. The perception is that the carriage is a means of transportation designed to carry passengers to and from their destination as quickly and as safely as possible, and for the majority of rail users, this is the reality. The functionality, design and aesthetics of the interior environment only become apparent to the traveller on a longer journey. The 'need for speed' is still required, but now the passenger is looking to justify the increase in fares.
