A modular seat concept designed by Grammer for regional rail travel in Europe offers great flexibility to operators. Since 1990, Grammer Railway Interior, a subsidiary of Grammer, has been supplying passenger seats for the high-speed ICE trains run by Germany's national railway operator, Deutsche Bahn. However, the company also offers seating systems for operators in other segments of the market - for local and regional rail service. Now, Grammer Railway Interior has developed a completely new, modular seating concept. The different versions of the new platform are designed for travel times ranging from 30 minutes for local trains to up to two hours for regional trains. The range of seating systems within the new platform is as multifaceted as the distances and routes for which the seats are to be used. Depending on what the customer wants and needs, there are various cushion contours and seat angle settings available - all designed to ensure the best possible ergonomic comfort for passengers. Fold-up seats are also available to generate more flexible space inside the cabin, especially for wheelchair users. To provide installation flexibility, there is a variety of options - including floor-mounted seats with wall adaptors, box stands and cantilever seat supports.
