Its dedication to green methods has helped leather manufacturer Andrew Muirhead & Son woo East Midlands Trains for a major refurbishment programme. Leather from Andrew Muirhead & Son has been chosen by UK operator East Midlands Trains for the refurbishment of its fleet of 27 Meridian trains - the final (￡6 million) stage of a ￡30 million renovation programme conceived to deliver improvements across the operator's entire fleet. The programme is due for completion by early 2012. For this project, Andrew Muirhead & Son supplied a large number of hides in the train company's bespoke ink (dark blue) colour for new seating in the first-class areas of the Meridian fleet. The trains operate between the cities of Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and London St. Pancras, where Andrew Muirhead & Son has also supplied leather for the station's public areas and champagne bar, believed to be the longest in Europe.
