If you go out in the fields today, you could be lucky enough to see a green-winged orchid. Geraldine Taylor describes her love affair with one of spring's most beautiful flowers. A stone's throw from the partially dismantled remains of a pop festival, I'm sitting by three green-winged orchids and I'm laughing. Laughter is a common response to orchids: I've seen other botanists kneel and chuckle at the sheer, barefaced cheek of these flowers.
