Clinical features, diagnosis and management of fractures of the distal phalanx in horses

Fractures of the distal phalanx are not an uncommon cause of lameness and occur in horses of all ages, breeds and disciplines. Many fractures present with severe lameness and obvious localising clinical signs but others present a diagnostic challenge.The prognosis for these fractures is also highly variable, depending on their configuration.
