As you know from the last issue of Canadian Reclamation and from the IALR Newsletter, we lost two of our long-time members last year. Keith Winterhalder (Ontario) passed away in October. Keith was a founding member of the Association and was very active in the reclamation field, both nationally and internationally, Lloyd Hodgins (Alberta) passed away in August 2005. Anybody who ever talked with Lloyd will know that we have lost a valued member of the reclamation community. Although his activities were more limited to Western Canada, Lloyd always had time to interact with people. Both Keith and Lloyd were instrumental in promoting student funding within the CLRA/ACRSD - Keith at the national level and Lloyd within the Alberta Chapter. I know that I will miss them both. The 31st Annual Meeting is nearly here - August 20 -23 in Ottawa, This is being held in conjunction with the 9th meeting of the International Affiliation of Land Reclamationists. Please visit the CLRA/ACRSD website at www.cira.ca for details. There is still time to register. The program is now posted on the website as well. It is as "final" as a program can be until after the event! In addition to the technical sessions, there is also a short course being offered prior to the meeting and field trips - one to Gatineau Park and the other, a two-day trip to the Deloro Minesite and the Moira River Watershed.
