Flowering phenology and components of spikelet yield of perennial Dinanath grass were examined in an established pasture under rainfed condition during 1995 and 1996. Initial head emergence (IHE) started in the first week of November after the commencement of pasture growth at the onset of monsoon during June end and head density (262.5 and 319.6 / m~2) peaked during mid December. Potential seed yield was 665 and 848 kg/ha during 1995 and 1996 with 17.5 and 12.0 per cent PGS (pure germinating seeds), respectively. Hull imposed dormancy was evident as removal of husk facilitated germination.
