Rail transportation of dangerous goods --action plan development for Greek state railways

The Laboratory of Transportation Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has, in collaboration with Greek State Railways (0SF), conducted an extensive study with respect to the rail transportation of dangerous goods in Greece [1]. The study, of which the authors of this article were the technical coordinators, aimed at developing an action plan which would allow Greek State Railways to increase its market share and its level of service offered in this sector. Within the framework of this article, the methodology applied, together with the most significant results obtained, are presented.
