Strategy of deployment of heavy-duty machines for efficient and cost-effective rail maintenance adopted by DB Netz AG

Since 2008, DB Netz AG has been pursuing the "integrated investment and infrastructure maintenance strategy (i.e. the 3-i strategy)" for cost-effective maintenance of railway infrastructure on the basis of laws of technical interaction and innovative processes. This article looks at the 3-i strategy and its application with respect to rail maintenance.
