Accumulated research results on the potential of seed production in pasture grasses and togumes reveal that ecological factors are the major determinants in these species. Thus, the ldentification of suitable seed production pockets merits should givedue consideration. These species are adopted to specific edaphic conditions and more so with respect to its fertility status, legumes require soil with high P status whereas grasses prefer soils rich in nitrogen fertility. Besides, the foliar spray of certain micronutrients holds promise for synchronising seed setting and enhancing seed yield in pasture grasses and legumes. Further work is needed on developing better varieties and their agronomic techniques to provide congenial micro-climatic and soilenvironments for sustainable seed production programme.
