Annual growth and luban frankincense extraction from Boswellia sacra the in Wadi Hadhramout

Cuttings of Boswellia sacra were collected, planted in the nursery and then transplanted to plain agricultural land. At 12 years of growth, trees attained an average height of 4.3 m, crown width of 3.49m and stem diameter of 4.0 cm. with mean annualgrowth of 0.36m in height, 0.29m in crown and 0.33cm in stem diameter. Months of July and June were better for frankincense exudation. Exudation of the gum frankincense was better in bud locations compared to non-bud locations.
