摘要

This paper highlights the performance of palak (B. vulgaris) under a multitier agroforestry system in West Bengal, India after the fourth year of establishment of the agroforestry system. The treatments included combinations of shading or open cultivation; organic or inorganic fertilizers; and no cutting or cutting once. Green leaf yield, plant height, branch number, seed yield and 1000-seed weight were maximum under multitier agroforestry system than under open grown plot conditions. Inorganic fertilizers produced the best results in both systems. Plant height, seed yield and 1000-seed weight here higher under the uncut treatment. The number of branches and days to stalk emergence were maximum in plots where one cutting of leaves were obtained at the initial stage of plant growth.
