Estimation of fruit and understorey pasture production in an Emblica officinalis [Phyllanthus emblica]-Dichanthium annulatum hortipastoral system in India was studied. The fruit-biomass estimation model has been evolved taking basic growth attributes of the tree (height, crown diameter and diameter at breast height, dbh) as predictors. The understorey pasture production was estimated by evolving the relationships with aboveground (PAR-photosynthetic active radiation) and belowground factors (soil moisture and tree roots) as predictors. The fruit-biomass estimation model shows the appropriateness of S-curve with dbh as predictor. The understorey pasture could be estimated with PAR at 12:00 h together with tree root weight at 30-45 cm depth.
