摘要

To study the effect of top - feed tree species on the fodder yield of understorey crops, an experiment was started in July, 1997 at the farm of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Regional Research Station, Bawai. The green and dryfodder yield of pearlmillet, buffel grass, cowpea, cowpea + pearlmillet and buffel grass + cowpea crops raised in the interspaces of trees did not show significant variation as compared to their sole cropping. However, the fodder yield of crops varied Significantly among themselves, Cowpea + pearlmiliet gave significantly higher yield than other crops under all the tree species. Fodder yield received from different top-feed tree species was statistically at par during 1999 and significant during 2000.FueJwood obtained due to pruning was maximum (2.4q/ha) in Acacia bivenosa and minimum in (1.2q/ha) Hardwikia binata. Acacia bivensoa performed statistically better than the other species in terms of growth (height and diameter).
