Path coefficients and metroglyph analysis in Siratro (Macroptelium atropurpureum L.) accessions

The observations on 18 accessions of Siratro (Macroptelium atropurpureum ) collected from diverse sources were recorded for 8 metric traits. The studies indicated that the green fodder yield is positively correlated with plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and leaf width (p<0.05). Path coefficients analysis revealed the highest positive direct effect of plant height on green fodder yield followed by internode length, leaf/stem ratio and number of branches, respectively. Based on metroglyph analysis, 18 accessions could be grouped into 6 clusters. Group I was the largest comprising 5 genotypes (IL 96-1, -3, -14, -15 and -17), group II had 2 genotypes (IL 96-4 and -5), group III had 4 genotypes ( IL 96-6, -7, -10 and -11), group IV had a solitary genotype (IL 96- 13), group V had 2 genotypes (II 96- 2 and -16) and group VI had 4 genotypes (IL 96-8, -9, -12 and -18).
