This interview was conducted at the Cornell University Library on November 19 and 30, 1998. In his current position as Deputy University Librarian, Atkinson has library-system-wide responsibility for coordinating selection, technical services, preservation, and public services. In this interview, he discusses his job, his writings, his views on the radical transformation of scholarly information exchange, and the future of libraries and library operations.
