Turkish Extruder Widens Scope into Foil Production

Well known in the aluminum industry as a supplier of extruded products, ASAS Aluminyum in Sa-karya, Turkey made the decision to expand its scope in 2009 by starting up foil rolling operations. The company then began a year-long search for machinery suppliers that would be able to meet its needs for an integrated rolling operation, including continuous casting line (60,000 tpy), cold rolling mill (120,000 tpy), foil rolling mill (25,000 tpy), and surface coating operation (50,000 tpy), as well as ancillary equipment. The company began constructing a new 100,000 sq m building for the operation in 2010, which was laid out to make a 120,000 tpy flat aluminum production capacity possible, while allowing for expansion to 360,000 tpy capacity at the end of third phase investment. ASAS started up production of the new facility in 2014, which enabled it to begin production of sophisticated packaging foil, such as blister packs for pharmaceutical products and intelligent compound packaging for food products for the national and international market.
