SECO/Warwick Group, Meadville, PA, introduced their patented Vortex airflow technology for the annealing of aluminum sheet coils. In nature, the vortex is justifiably viewed as a powerful force whether in the form of a tornado, cyclone, or hurricane. SECO/Warwick's innovative design harnesses this cyclonic action and wind speed to produce a rapid heating of coil with minimal hot spots in their coil annealing furnace (Figure 1). The result is a faster annealing cycle time, which reduces energy consumption and provides better product quality through higher surface temperature uniformity.
