Redefining Tough: The New Ford F-150 Features an All-Aluminum Body

Part of the Ford Motor Company's F-series truck lineup and known for being big and rugged, the F-150 has been America's best-selling pickup truck for 37 consecutive years and America's best-selling vehicle for 32 years. While the F-150 has had an aluminum hood for a number of years, the "Built Ford Tough" image has primarily relied on steel until now. The all-new 2015 Ford F-150, available for sale at the end of this year, has been designed with an all-aluminum body (Figure 1) coupled with a steel frame proving that "tough" doesn't have to mean heavy.
