Unlike "The Bridges of Madison County", the 1992 novelette that endeared itself to millions of readers, the bridges found in Dunklin County, Mo., drew anything but endearment from Barnhart Crane and Rigging. Rather the dilapidated spans proved tobe Barnhart's greatest hurdle in completing a 180-mile hauling job.Barnhart's task was not simple-haul the largest load ever moved in Missouri. In other words, haul a variety of heavy equipment to the construction site of a new power plant in Dunklin County, 100 miles south of St. Louis. Equipment ranged from 50 to 240tons, with dimensions up to 19 feet wide and 17 feet tall.
