Extreme Makeover: Home Edition descended on April 22, 2006 in Irvington, N.J. The goal was to build the largest and most difficult home the hit ABC show has ever attempted. Led by Edgewood Properties and Century 21 Development Corporation, a team of more than 3,000 workers converged to complete a 6,000-square-foot, three-story home in a span of four days. Receiving the home was Beverly Turner, a single mother raising nine adopted special needs children. Turner, who adopted 18 children over 20 years, lost her home to a fire last year. Before Extreme Makeover came to the rescue, a vandalized, burnt-out shell was all that remained.
