A chemistry laboratory is a place where all laboratory workers must always be on guard for potential hazards such as inflammable liquids, fragile glassware, pyrophoric materials, lachrymators, toxic substances, irritants, carcinogenic materials, narcotics, corrosive chemicals and hazardous byproducts (see Figure 1). It is not necessarily a dangerous place, but it demands reasonable and sensible precautions from all concerned to keep it safe.
