A tropical insight on the '9th Ibero-American Workshop on Complex Fluids and the 2nd Italian- Brazilian Workshop on Liquid Crystals'

Driven by strong ties between the Brazilian National Institute of Science and Technology on Complex Fluids and the Italian Liquid Crystal Society, the 2nd Italian-Brazilian Workshop on Liquid Crystals paired up with the 9th edition of the biannual Ibero- American Workshop on Complex Fluids and was held on 14–18 October 2013 (http://www.evento.ufal. br/iberofcx/), in the tropical city of Maceió by the coast line of Brazil. The Workshop timing was tuned in such way that it allowed participants to combine their traveling arrangements with other meetings that preceded the event at other Brazilian institutions (Figure 1).
