Prices opened at $4.162 and initially fell to an intraday low of $4.125 before traders began focusing on the revised National Weather Service forecast for the balance of November, which came in below normal. December gas futures climbed to an intraday high of $4.28 in the last few minutes of trading. Temperatures are expected to be colder than normal in the East and Midwest regions of the US Nov. 27-Dec. 5, according to the NWS. Gas futures also found support on an eroding gas rig count, which fell 19 last week to 936, marking the lowest level since Mar. 12, according to Baker Hughes data.
