CME/Nymex October crude ended the day with a $1.02 gain at $85.44/bbl after seesawing on a mix of fundamentals

The contract found firmer footing and gained support from a triple-digit gain in the Dow Jones Industrial index and a lower dollar. Earlier in the session, crude traded to a high of $86.39 in part because of optimistic manufacturing news from China. However, the contract fell to a low of $83.40 following lower Brent crude prices.
