Prices opened slightly higher at $3.939 and briefly rose to an intraday high of $3.94 before hefty selling emerged. As the day progressed, hedge funds and local traders began capturing profits, sending prices falling to an intraday low of $3.794. On the weather front, the core of the coldest weather appears to remain focused on Calgary for the next two weeks without much influence in the US, according to the Commodity Weather Group. Surges of cooling are still expected to drop south toward the Midwest and East. Some of them may temporarily break into the South. However, the forecasting service said that a considerable amount of volatility is expected with possible warming events in between cool fronts.
