The town of Glastonbury, Connecticut, has secured a $490,000 grant from the US Department of Energy that will be used to bolster the town's fleet of natural gas-powered vehicles and build a fast-fill station for the cars and vans.

The money comes from $13.1 million in Recovery Act funds made available to Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition to fund development of a range of energy-efficient and advanced vehicle technologies. The money will be used by 29 municipalities and companies to fund natural gas vehicles and refuse trucks, natural gas and hydrogen filling stations and electric chargers.
