The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has given the OK to TransCanada to hold an open season from Apr. 30 to Jul. 30 for its Alaska Gas Pipeline project.

TransCanada is partnered with Exxon Mobil and the pair have two possible plans for shippers: A $40 billion, 1,700-mile gas pipeline from the North Slope of Alaska to Alberta, where it will interconnect with other lines, and a $26 billion, 800-mile line from the North Slope to Valdez, where a third party would build an LNG export terminal for the gas to be shipped to Pacific markets.
