US District Judge Carl Barbier of New Orleans has dismissed one of the suits against BP, Anadarko Petroleum and Mitsui after the widow of one of the 11 crew members killed on the Deepwater Horizon told the court she reached an out-of-court settlement.

Court records show that Melinda Anne Becnel -- widow of Keith Blair Manuel -- has settled her suit against BP and that Barbier has dismissed her suit. Terms of the settlement were not released by either BP or Becnel's attorney. Transocean, owner of the Deepwater Horizon, was not named in Becnel's suit.
