Prices started off higher today at $3.932 before advancing to an intraday high of $4.014 during morning trading as traders attempted to assess the potential threat to Gulf of Mexico production from tropical systems percolating in the Caribbean. As the day progressed, prices slipped to an intraday low of $3.908 before regrouping to end in modestly positive territory. Part of today's strength was derived from warmer weather forecasts. According to the Commodity Weather Group, hotter-than-normal weather may increase demand for gas through next week for power generation across key parts of the US. New York could see a high near 90 on Friday, which is 17 degrees above normal.
