CME/Nymex November crude fell $1.56 to close at $81.67/bbl

The over-heated oil futures market backed off today after the US dollar rebounded against the euro and the US stock market eliminated earlier gains. Oil futures moved toward the largest fall in nearly a month, bottoming out at an intraday low of $81 a barrel, as the dollar ended its free-fall. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Standard & Poor's 500 Index retreated for a second day as raw-material prices tumbled, sending producer shares lower. The US government is likely to report Friday that the US jobless rate advanced in September for a second month. Analysts estimate that the unemployment rate may have increased to 9.7% last month.
