Amec Foster Wheeler, the UK-based LNG and energy engineering company, was awarded a consultancy contract by Inpex Corp. for the Ichthys LNG export project in Australia that has entered the final year of first-phase construction at a cost of $US37.5 billion. Inpex is developing the liquefaction plant at Bladin Point near the port of Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory in a joint venture also involving French energy company Total. The Japanese-led project is set to come on stream between July and September 2017, about nine months behind schedule. ‘The scope of work involves Amec Foster Wheeler providing a team of production and maintenance assessors to carry out competency assessments for the Ichthys Operations and Maintenance teams across all project assets,’ Amex FW said. ‘This includes the Central Processing Facility, Floating Production Storage and Offtake vessel and the Bladin Point LNG onshore processing plant,’ Amex FW explained. The Japanese company's plant will produce 8.9 million tonnes per annum of LNG from two processing Trains.
