Japan's Chiyoda suggests measures to minimize carbon dioxide from LNG production plants

The first generation liquefied natural gas and power supply chain for Japan started with the use of LNG supplies from Alaska's Kenai LNG plant, Brunei LNG and the liquefaction facility on Das Island in the United Arab Emirates. The predominant purpose of these gas-fired electric power stations was to reduce air pollution caused by previous use of higher-sulfur heavy oil stations. That planned air pollution reduction has been successfully achieved. Use of regasified LNG in electric power generation has contributed to reducing air pollution not only in Japan but also in other countries.
