The US Geological Survey said a magnitude 1.9 quake was recorded around noon Monday and a similar-sized quake hit 10 hours later. A DEP spokeswoman said the two quakes were centered near a drilling and hydraulic fracturing operation 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The operator, Houston-based Hilcorp Energy, was in the process of fracking two wells on a four-well pad. Work has been suspended until the state determines if fracking caused the quakes.
