Americans used 66,568 gigawatt-hours of electricity in the week ended May 1, about 1.5% more than the previous week. Seven of the nine regions in the 48 contiguous states posted decreases over 2009 in electric output, with the South Central region reporting the largest decrease at 5.8%.
