Technip has won a contract for more work on an emergency response system to contain oil in case of a future accident in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico.

The French company was awarded a front end engineering contract in October for the Marine Well Containment Co. -- a joint venture between Exxon Mobil, Shell, ConocoPhillips and Chevron. The new contract is for the design, procurement and fabrication of the umbilical, riser and flowline components of the company's expanded well containment response system. The riser systems will be capable of working in up to 10,000 feet of water and two shallow water systems will be designed to work in up to 2,000 feet of water.
