Natural gas futures edged higher today as the US Department of Commerce reported a 0.2% decline in the value of wholesale inventories, indicating companies had difficulty keeping pace with demand.
A surge in orders would help lift production at factories, chemical manufacturers and steel plants, which account for about 30% of US gas consumption. Despite today's slight strength, momentum is still leaning to the downside, with the potential for April gas to test the $4.40s or lower.
