摘要

" He accused Republican legislators of refusing to honor a promise to enact a tax. The state remains the only gas-producing state yet to impose a tax on shale gas. In his statement, Rendell blamed Republican lawmakers by saying, "Their clear unwillingness to change their previous proposal or to resolve differences with the House Democrats and with my administration makes it obvious that they have killed the severance tax in this legislative session." A Democrat, Rendell will leave office in January at the end of his second term. He has been calling for a tax for two years to boost state revenue and help pay for the environmental costs of drilling.
