DSM implements restructuring efficiencies following solid results

Life sciences company Royal DSM has reported satisfactory results for the second quarter (Q2) of 2015, with a total sales increase of 12% and growth in earnings of 6%, to ?279 million (US$316 million), compared with the same period last year. Although nutritional sales volumes rose by 16%, earnings were reduced, compared with Q2 2014, due to lower prices for vitamin E, poorer sales of omega-3s in some markets and losses associated with a fire in Brazil. At the beginning of September, DSM announced an increase of 10% in its vitamin E price for all forms to help address this situation.
