Biodroga offers camelina oil for food and supplements

Canadian lipid supplier Biodroga has announced the availability of cold-pressed Camelina Sativa oil as part of its range of vegetable and marine oils and nutritional lipids. Its offering is described as having a ratio of omegas 3 :6:9 of 2:1:2, with a total a-linolenic acid content of over 30%. The company also highlights the oil's high smoke point and oxidative stability, suggesting it may be the only omega-3 containing vegetable oil suitable for cooking. Camelina Sativa oil has a similar fatty acid profile to flaxseed, but contains more lino-leic acid and less a-linolenic acid than the latter. Like most modern varieties of rape-seed, or canola, it also contains low levels of erucic acid.
