Catalytic dynamic spectrofl uorimetry determination of trace gold

As we can conclude from reports, there are many methods for determination of gold, including atomic absorption method, emission spectrometry, inductive coupling plasma–MS, electrochemistry, and so forth[1–3]. However, many of these lack sensitivity or selectivity. Moreover, in some instances, the reagents and complexes are water insoluble, so a water-miscible organic solvent is needed. In this work, we propose a catalytic dynamic spectrofl uorimetry method for the determination of gold as a catalyst with3-p- methylpheneyl-5-(4′-methyl-2′-sulfophenylzao) rhodanine (3-p-MRAMSP). The new type 3-p-MRAMSP has been synthesized for the fi rst time by the authors. The method is proved to be more sensitive and more selective and has been successfully applied to determination of trace gold in ore samples with a satisfactory result.
