Even where gas production is lifted, competition from potential LNG projects around the world competing for buyer commitment will still be a factor. If significant investment is made in regional gas pipelines to countries where demand is growing and Iranian supplies reach as far as Europe via Turkey in the west and India and China in the east, then perhaps LNG simply will not be necessary to meet Iran's export aspirations.
