They are easy to care for, beautiful and come in a widerange of bloom colors. Here are two newer hybrids that reflect the two major forms of shrub roses: climbers and shrubs. Both are hardy to USDA Zone 3, so they are perfect for gardens in northern Minnesota.Campfire Bred in Canada, Campfire rose has been on the market for just two years but has already been an impressive performer in the landscape. This small rose forms a rounded shrub only reaching 3 feet in height and spread when mature. It blooms all summer and the flowers are about as close to a hybrid tea as you can get. Those tight buds have yellow and red tones, and then open to a semi-double flower with yellow petals that are edged with a deep rosy pink. The flower colors intensify during the heat of the summer. The foliage is a rich, glossy green and highly disease resistant. The stems are smooth with only an occasional short thorn.
