US propane prepares for winter

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) is forecasting a 23pc increase in propane prices to US petrochemical consumers this winter compared with a year earlier, despite relatively high inventories.The EIA included the forecast in its Short-Term Energy and Winter Fuels Outlook released on 6 October. US propane prices averaged 830/USG during the fourth quarter last year. But the EIA predicts that the cost of propane produced by US refiners will average 960/USG during the fourth quarter this year and $1/USG during the first quarter next year. Third-quarter Mont Belvieu LDH propane prices averaged 84.50/USG, according to Argus data.
