During a journey to the Yemen Republic in November 2000, a new species of Rhytidocaulon, R. mccoyi sp. nov., characterized by lime green, lantern-shaped flowers borne on very long stalks and with ovate-deltoid leaves up to 5 mm long, was found in one rocky valley. The morphology and growth habit of the species are presented.
